Bajaj Auto mulls expansion of its distribution network

Bajaj Auto is planning for a huge expansion drive; says it mulls with idea of amplifying the distribution network so to meet the growth targets it is anticipating in the future.

The auto major is planning to add about 130 fresh dealerships and also plans to upgrade existent 1,100 service centers by coming festive season.



The company clarifies that the majority of new dealerships will be in the small towns, and that would make the company's dealerships in India to about 600.

According to President, Motorcycle Business S. Sridhar, the new plans with regards to new dealership outlets should help the company to boost the market share in smaller towns; hitherto catered by secondary network of dealers.

The company also says that it has been working with a renowned retail design to improve customers' experience at the dealers. According to the President, the company has made an investment of Rs. 18 crore in 1100 of its service centers so their service standards are upgraded in various markets.

A typical Bajaj dealershipin these towns requires 1800 sq ft. of showroom space, 2200 sq ft. of workshop space, and has the direct employment potential of approximately 50 people which can significantly boost the local economy, according to the company. The expansion also means the company generating about 7,000 new jobs in the country.
