Bajaj 100cc bike? Wait for the killer winner

Looks like the 100cc bike market has some scope to accommodate some more competition and not been Discovered fully. The Bajaj Auto Ltd is now mulling with the idea of bringing a 100cc bike model into the Indian market. A model in the 100cc segment will give the bike major stronger roots to spread wider and capture bigger market share that it already boasts of.

Bajaj Auto Ltd hit the 100cc bike segment with a shock called Discover in July 2009 and the entry level bike for the company has no doubt rediscovered magic for the Bajaj and snatched away huge share in the market for the company- the company boasts of selling million units of Discover and it is not a small accomplishment considering the competition.



The feature-rich Discover has been impressing bike riders as well as makers. Inspired by the success story of the Discover Bajaj is planning to come with another model with better performance if not inferior to strengthen its presence in the segment's market.

It is expected as well as talked that the new 100cc bike will come as budget bike with price under Rs. 40,000. If Bajaj can bring in another model in the 100cc segment it will be a huge move and to have competition within the same brand seem to be the mantra of success and no one understood this better than the Bajaj Auto Ltd. With already 10 models in its product line up if there is another 100cc bike, the Bajaj product portfolio will bloat to 11, and this is just good to boast in a fierce competitive scenario like India.



But will the new Bajaj 100cc bike be good enough to face the threat from Hero Honda Splendor and Hero Honda Passion that have been ruling the roost? However, it aint going to be easy job for the Bajaj Auto to come up with a model that can kill the Splendor whose success was read as a phenomenon. Bajaj is expected to come with the launch in 2011
