Two New Pulsars From Bajaj This Year

Bajaj Pulsar 375 and the face-lifted Pulsar 180 are likely to be the new models.

India's second largest motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj Auto confirmed that the company would be launching two new bikes under the Pulsar brand in this year. One would be a bike under 200cc class and the other would be the recently murmured Pulsar 375.

The Pulsar 375 was there in the to-do list of Bajaj. However, there is even no clue regarding the other Pulsar which is to be placed below the Pulsar 200NS. A relaunch of the Pulsar is not expected from Bajaj as the company concentrate on the Pulsar 200NS and the Pulsar 220. Still, there is a chance of face-lift or any update. It won't be the updated bikes, the Pulsar 200NS and the Pulsar 220, gonna get updated again, but either the Pulsar 150 or the Pulsar 180. Well, priority goes to the Pulsar 180. It is expected that the Pulsar 180 will be updated taking cues from the Pulsar 200NS. That the bike may get some selected features and technical specifications from its sibling.

The all new Pulsar 180 may come up with triple spark combustion system, mono-suspension, and petal disc brake. The machine may even get equipped with a rear disc brake. Realizing the future market of India, Bajaj may load up the Pulsar 180 with tons of features. On the other hand, the all new bike will be more expensive than the existing Pulsar 180.

Meanwhile, the Pulsar 375 will be a true sportbike and will be wedded with fully-faired body. Bajaj wants the Pulsar 375 to be known as a sports-tourer. Once the bike is launched the Pulsar 375 will be tagged as the flagship motorcycle of Bajaj Auto.

Bajaj Pulsar 180

"We have several launches lined up for this year. There are at least two new Pulsars- one that will be smaller than the Pulsar 200cc and another that will be much bigger. This is going to help us defend our leadership in this space and that is very important for us," said Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto.

Bajaj has already unveiled an all new machine, the Discover 100T in this year 2013. The Discover 100T is launched aiming the mass market.

"Our main focus will be on the Discover brand and segment. The launch of the Discover 100T in January and our ability to sell 25,000 - 30,000 units a month has given us a new foothold in the commuter segment because it is for the first time in our history that we are selling units of a 100cc motorcycle in such large numbers," added Mr. Bajaj.
