If the sources are right, we motorcycle fabs have something to cherish in the name of a bi-wheeler. That is, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati is bringing in its entry level motorcycle, the Monster 696 to India. At present Ducati Monster 795 is the most affordable Ducati machine available in India.

Earlier in the 2013 Union Budget, the Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram announced hike in the duty amount of imported and premium motorcycles. So it would be hard to sell out the Monster 795 and all other higher priced machines at increased price tags. Thus the Italian is tricking out some motorcycle businesses here by rolling out a bi-wheeler which is under 800cc segment. Because, vehicles under 800cc segment is still enjoying the same 60% duty tax.
