India's third largest two wheeler manufacturer, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, Private Limited (HMSI) sold out its 10th million unit. Settling in 1999 in India, HMSI commenced motorcycle production with Activa at Manesar plant. It needed 5 years to cross 1 million mark for Honda. But afterward the history was scribed by the same Honda by getting accepted by many customers, it indeed took hardly 5 months to mark its 10th million unit from 9th million.
Mr. Keita Muramatsu, President and CEO of HMSI said, "This milestone re-affirms the deep trust of customers for brand Honda. Going ahead, Honda will intensify its efforts to rapidly expand production, network and continue to achieve many more million smiles introducing advanced Indian centric products across all motorcycle & scooter segments to realize our Dreams for India."
At present, HMSI has two plants in India at Manesar (Haryana) and Tapukara (Rajasthan). The third plant's procedures are on its way at Narsapuram (Karnataka) and said to be under production by 2013. Hence the company thinks to increase its production by 4 million in 2013.
"Deep trust of customers for brand Honda. Going ahead, Honda will intensify its efforts to rapidly expand production, network. From achieving its first million mark in five years to achieving the last 10th million in just five months, Honda has aggressively grown to meet increasing customer demand in India-the world's second largest two-wheeler market and a priority market for Honda for the next decade and more" added Mr. Muramatsu.
HMSI also plans to sell 10 million units in the year 2020 and desires to take over world's no. 1 two wheeler manufacturer , Hero Motocorp. Honda's new strategies in meeting customers' feedbacks will certainly provide nightmares in Hero campaign that was once a part of Honda.
