European auto major group Volkswagen's Audi is now reportedly poised to purchase Italian motorcycle maker Ducati Motor Holding SpA from owner Investindustrial SpA for about euro 860 million ($1.1 billion) including debt.

Ducati's total liabilities are less than euro 200 million, buyout firm Investindustrial had stated earlier. Volkswagen Chairman Ferdinand Piech has long coveted the brand, publicly expressing interest in buying Ducati in April 2008 before eventually losing out to Investindustrial.

We shall expect that this new deal will surely improve the existing high standards of the two wheeler manufacturer and will deliver exceptional products as before.
