Auto Expo visitors number gets restricted to one lakh

India's premier Automobile show, 2012 Delhi Auto Expo has been always in front in attracting huge crowd. But it has been reported that the organisers have decided to restrict the number of daily visitors which could cost the show its tag of the world's second largest auto show in terms of footfalls.

Auto Expo 2012 Steering Committee Chairman Rajive Kaul was quoted as saying "There will be 50 major global brands that will showcase their products and this will be the largest ever in the history of the Auto Expo." The report stated that the highlights will include the unveiling of 24 cars by domestic companies and 8 by global players, eight two-wheelers by homegrown firms.



The restriction is made to make the viewers feel comfortable and to avoid heavy rush. With over two million visitors in the 2010 Auto Expo, the organisers had claimed that India's auto show was the second largest after Shanghai auto show. But if restrictions are made the expo will lose that stature.

Commenting on the area for the show, he said due to the limitations at Pragati Maidan, the latest edition will be smaller than the previous one in 2010.
