Yamaha Launches New White Ray and Flags off Female Riding Training Program

Yamaha Ray is now available in starry white color as well. Yamaha Female Riding Training is the first riding training program for women in India.

The new ray of Indian scootering, India Yamaha Motor Private Limited (IYM) added a new color, 'starry white' to the Ray line up. With this, Yamaha has 7 shades of the Ray now. Shining blue, plush pink, black star, burgundy bliss, purple pastel and grey grandeur are the other colors. Adding starry white Yamaha heating up the competition between Honda Dio.

Meanwhile, Yamaha flagged off a special female training programme, Yamaha Female Riding Training (YFRT) in Chennai. It is the first riding training program for women in India. By the event, Yamaha plans to train lady riders who struggles to drive, especially in cities, and to promote the Ray as well. The inaugural ceremony was blessed by the presence of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is the brand ambassador for Ray and the Deputy Managing Director of India Yamaha Motor Ltd, Masaki Asano.



"The year 2012 was a great year as far as IYM is concerned. We could launch our very first scooter in the Indian soil. The scooter has already been given good reviews everywhere by the media. It has also boosted our sale sector. The Ray is specially designed for young women in urban area. It is moulded out to be so smooth and much manoeuvrable, which would be so handy for young lady riders to push through streets. Moreover, adding more colors to the ride, we have launched a new color of the Ray, starry white" said Masaki Asano.

"The Yamaha Female Riding Training programme which has been specially organized for women, who find driving hard. This event will be a lot helpful for them" added Asano.

At first it was the R15 which got new colors this year. Couple of days back, Yamaha unveiled 4 new shades of the R15. Racing Blue, Thundering Green, Invincible Black and Raring Red are the new colors.

Yamaha Ray comes with an 113 cc, Air cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC,2-valve, Single cylinder engine. The engine is powered by a maximum power of 7.1 PS @ 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 8.1 Nm @ 5000 rpm. Having V-belt automatic transmission, the scooter reaches a maximum speed of 85 kmph. Thanks to the minimal power of engine. The Ray provides a mileage of 53 kmpl under standard condition. Ensuring a smooth drive rather than concentrating on performance, Yamaha attracts young women riders to the store.
