Bajaj Rolls Out its First 2015 Flagship in India

Bajaj welcomes the new year with a line up of new pulsars and few other face lifted models in its two wheeler segment. 2015, being the best year so far for the company, Bajaj has finally launched the first bike of the year, the Bajaj Platina ES. Rolling out from the Platina series from the company, the face lifted model has not compromised in design, style and comfort. The new Platina is installed with all the new technologies which offers effective reduction of fuel consumption, resulting in a jaw dropping fuel efficiency of the bike. Making the motorcycle available in the market at a budgeted price was indeed a great task for the Bajaj two wheeler industry. With a price quoted at around 44,510 the bike is now officially available in all the dealerships across the country.



FEATURES & TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS



Design and Styling

The design and styling of the new Bajaj Platina ES shares some similarities from its old model. Though the bike has not replicated the old version totally, it does appear the same in the first look. Adding more design elements and styling features has given the motorcycle a new shape and angle. Unique styling with a chrome graphics and attractive colour options are some features that makes the new version distinct from its later.

A new recomposed headlight, rear grab rails, side panels, a full stretch passenger seat, bikini fairing and a seemingly clean instrument cluster adds on to the total make over of the Platina ES. The fuel tank appears to be the same as that of the earlier version yet the new imprinted chrome graphics makes it look more vibrant. Bajaj offers a hand-full of new features to the Platina ES unlike other two wheeler motorcycles in its segment. Some of these include an Electric start option, longest seat in class, highest fuel tank capacity, maintenance free battery, highest ground clearance, alloy wheels and a solid build quality.

Engine and Transmission

The Bajaj Platina ES uses a 102cc, Single Cylinder, 2-valve DTS-I engine which can produce a maximum power of 8.2Ps at the rate of 7500rpm and 12.75Nm of maximum torque at the rate of 5000rpm. The engine is masted to a 4-speed gear box with an all down shift pattern transmission system. The company claims that the bike can gear up to a top speed of 90kmph. The engine is configured to yield the maximum power output as well as tuned to reduce the fuel consumption. Thus leaving a huge figure of 96.9 Kmpl of mileage from the bike. The engine is incorporated with a PTE 16 Manual choke carburetor type fuel system. Best in class spacious fuel tank comes with an 11.5litre tank capacity.

Frame and Suspension

The Bajaj Platina ES is moulded upon a tubular single down tube with lower cradle frame. Frame of the bike helps it to maintain the rigidity and stability during high rave and speed. Suspension system of the bike is installed with a Telescopic fork front and Hydraulic SNS rear suspension system. Ease of ride and comfort is assured by the new SNS suspension system installed in the bike.

Tyres and Braking System

The 2015 Bajaj Platina ES comes in with a set of standard alloy wheels. 2.75×17” 41P front and 3.00×17” 50P rear wheels are installed. Braking system includes a 110mm Drum brake calipers in front and rear wheels respectively.

With a price tag of 44,510 the first bike from the company is finally arrived in the two wheeler 100cc segment. The bike will be available in all the dealerships across the country.
