Honda Motor Company, the leading giant in the bi-wheeler battlefield announced its much anticipated CTX700N and CTX700. The reveal took place at the International Motorcycle Show in Chicago. It is very first Honda machine to embody the CTX tag. The CTX stands for 'Comfort Technology Experience' concept.
The new CTX series machines come with a newly developed 670cc, liquid-cooled in-line 2-cylinder engine. Its engine is mated with a 6 speed gearbox. Having blended with PGM-FI with 36mm throttle body induction and Digital transistorized with electronic advance ignition the CTX goes on authentically. Honda always ensures comfy to the next level. Mated with 41mm fork, 4.2 inches travel front suspension and Pro-Link single shock, 4.3 inches travel rear suspension, the bike assures one of the finest drives even at the toughest terrains.
One of the major drawbacks of the new series is the bikes don't hold dual disc brakes at front. Usually, premium cruisers are wedded with double disc brakes at front. Honda might be purposefully avoided it to meet the price limit of the machine. However, it doesn't compromise to the safety and confidence of the rider. Meantime, the rear brake is of a single 240mm disc with single-piston caliper.
With a wheelbase of 1530mm, the bike is accessible more than highway cruising. While the low seat height of 720mm gives room even to a short guy to easily handle the machine. Thanks to the 12 liter fuel tank, that is capable to take the rider to more remote.
To bring out an affordable premium bike that ensures the qualities of both cruiser and sportbike was really a hard task for Honda. They remark this achievement as a dream come true for the company officials. Here by the Japanese two wheeler consortium establishes a new era of motorcycling.
To be marked under the 'horizon motive design' table, the bike is equipped with sporty cowls and other body kits. The design of the CTX700 resembles the flagship motorcycle of Honda, the GL1800 Goldwing. As its name CTX (Comfort Technology Experience) means, the new branded bikes are far more than we expect on its comforts and manoeuvrability. It doesn't matter the distance as the bike is mated with a low centre of gravity with less tiring low-vibration features uninterrupted stress-free ride.
Additionally, the much responsive and smooth engine offers one of the best drives in this class. Even at high speeds the bike is controllable and stable for high speed cruising. Being a crossover of a sportbike and a cruiser, the machine pulls down its rivals. The only difference between the NTX700 and the NTX700N are its body kit.
Above all, the bikes have ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) technology and DCT (dual-clutch transmission). With the help of DCT, the rider can easily shift gears with a push on handlebar-mounted button. With that the automatic mode is also provided by which the gears are automatically changed.
The base model of Honda CTX700 is priced at $7,799 (approximately Rs.4,19,000), while the CTX700N starts at $6,999 (approximately Rs.3,76,250). The CTX700 is available in Cool Candy Red and Pearl White colors, whereas the CTX700N comes in Candy Red and Black shades.
