Renault Scala Launched

Renault India Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Renault S.A. of France launched its much anticipated sedan class car, the Scala in New Delhi. The car that exactly resemblances, Nissans Sunny is priced between Rs. 6.99 lakh and Rs. 9.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), for its petrol and diesel variants.

The petrol versions of Scala , RxE Petrol and RxL Petrol comes with a 1498cc, which is powered by maximum engine output of 99PS @ 6000 rpm and max torque of 134 Nm@4000 rpm. Whereas the diesel variants RxL Diesel and RxZ Diesel models brings out peak engine output of 86 PS @ 3750 rpm and enormous torque of 200 Nm @ 2000 rpm with the 1461cc engine. Both petrol and diesel variants are equipped with 5-speed manual transmission.



While unveiling the product, the Managing Director of Renault India Pvt Ltd, Mr. Marc Nassif said, "Scala will consolidate what Renault has brought to India. It will enter a very competitive segment. With the launch of this car, we are completing the first cycle of introducing five products in India. We expect this year to sell 30,000-35,000 units. In 2013, we will try to sell one lakh units."

With launch of the Scala, Renault India presently have 5 models in the country, including the recently launched the Duster. The major opponents of the Scala are the Nissan Sunny, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and Honda City.

Mr. Nassif also said that the company was planning to launch a hatchback younger to the Pulse, but not this year, since the company is focusing to promote to sell its existing models and will be unveiling upgraded versions of some of its models.
