Mercedes-Benz A Class Launched

Alas here comes the youngest baby from Mercedes-Benz, the A Class. The A Class, which starts at Rs. 21,93,500 for petrol version and Rs. 22,73,500 for diesel version (all are ex-showroom Mumbai prices), has been tagged in the compact segment. With this Mercedes-Benz India has heralded a new era of four-wheeling in luxury car class. The all new A-Class was launched by Mr. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.



Both petrol and diesel variants come in the following versions: A 180 Sport and A 180 CDI Style. The diesel machine comes with a massive 2.2 litre engine which is capable to deliver a maximum fuel efficiency up to 20.6 kmpl, while the petrol variant has a comparatively smaller 1.6 litre engine that can ensure a mileage of 15 kmpl. Moreover, the A Class is powered by an efficient turbo-charged engine with direct injection and has ECO start/stop function as standard. These technologies help to save fuel.



Comprised of 7 Airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program) to minimize the loss of control of the car during emergency braking, ASR (Acceleration Skid Control), electric parking brake, ABS (Antilock Braking System), Brake Assist System, Attention Assist and Hill Start Assist in cohesion the all new A-Class ensures the safest drive in its class.



The petrol variant is mated with a 1595cc, In-line/4 engine. It delivers maximum power of 90 Hp @ 5000 Rpm and maximum torque of 200 Nm @ 1250 - 4000 Rpm. It takes just 9.2 seconds to accelerate from 0-100. Its top speed is 202 kmph. Meanwhile, the diesel model has a 2143cc, In-line/4 engine. Delivering peak power of 80 Hp at 3200 - 4400 Rpm and peak torque of 250 Hp at 1400 - 2800 Rpm. It needs 10.6 seconds to reach 100 kmph from 0. Its top speed is 190 kmph.
