LML- Lohia Machinery Private Limited was started as a synthetic yarn manufacturing company in 1972. They started manufacturing scooters in 1984 by joining hands with Italian scooter makers, the Piaggio. LML started manufacturing more scooters with the help of advanced technology from Piaggio and sharing equal equity among the partners. The iconic model of Piaggio, the Vespa PX was sold in India through this joint venture. An upgraded version of this scooter was called the LML Select 2.
LML's joint venture with Piaggio ended in the year 1999 and by 2004 the production of LML Select 2 and NV too has ended. LML NV spl or NV Vespa was one those scooter, which were considered as a matter of pride and wisdom to own one. One of the main reason behind that was the Italian influence in technical and design aspects. this particular model had admirers from 18-40 age groups and even from senior citizens as well.
This scooter is powered by 149.56 cc, 2-stroke, single cylinder, air cooled engine with a maximum power of 8 bhp @ 5500 rpm. The engine is mated with a 4-speed gearbox, with twist-shift manual transmission. The scooter weighs 104 kg and the larger fuel tank can hold 8 litres of petrol.
The LML NV is still well maintained and used by many scooter lovers across the country. And there are many admirers who are also after this unique scooter in the second hand markets offering huge amounts.
