Using a Honda XR250L. Engine runs fine when cold if choke is on. Runs

Using a Honda XR250L. Engine runs fine when cold if choke is on. Runs fine when warm if choke is off. Somewhere between the two however, it dies without extremely specific choke adjustments and becomes exceptionally hard to start. Any ideas?
